Cookie Policy

What cookies are

A cookie is a small piece of data a website asks your browser to remember so it can recognize you the next time you visit. Some cookies are essential for the site to work, others are optional.

What we use, and what we don't

KanBit uses the minimum cookies required to run the service. We don't use advertising cookies. We don't share cookies with ad networks. We don't track you across other websites.

Strictly necessary

  • Session cookie — stores your authentication token after you sign in. Without this you can't stay signed in. Cleared when you log out.
  • CSRF token — protects against cross-site request forgery on mutating API calls.

Functional

  • Theme preference — remembers whether you chose light or dark mode.
  • Locale — remembers your chosen language.
  • Sidebar and timer panel state — remembers whether your sidebar and timer panel are open between sessions.

Analytics (cookieless)

We use Plausible to count page views on kanbit.pro. Plausible does not set any cookies, does not use local storage, and collects only aggregated, anonymized data (country, device class, referring URL). No personal data is collected.

Error monitoring

We use Sentry / GlitchTip to collect error reports when something breaks in the UI. Error reports do not set cookies. They include technical metadata about the error — stack traces, browser version, the URL where it happened — and may include your user ID if you are signed in, so we can follow up.

No advertising cookies

We do not use any advertising or retargeting cookies. We do not share data with ad networks. We do not run A/B tests on anonymous visitors using cookie-based identifiers.

How to opt out

Because Plausible is cookieless and we don't run ad tech, there is no separate opt-out for analytics. If you want to stop the authentication cookie you can sign out. Your browser's privacy settings can block all cookies outright, but that will prevent you from signing in.

Changes

We update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when we change our cookie usage. Material changes are mentioned in the account email we send.
